Events & registration
How do I register for an event?
Open the event on the Events page and fill in the registration form — tell us how many adults, students and children are coming.
- Free events: you are confirmed immediately and receive your event pass with a QR code by email.
- Paid events: transfer the fee shown, upload a photo or screenshot of the payment slip, and you will receive your pass once a volunteer has verified the payment.
Which fee applies to me — early bird, regular or on-spot?
The fee depends on when you register. The fee table on each event page shows the dates; the fee that applies today is highlighted.
- Early bird — lowest price, until the date shown.
- Regular — after the early bird, until registration closes.
- On-spot — paid at the door on the day.
Young children are free — the age limit is shown in each event’s fee table. Students pay the student fee — please bring your student ID to the event.
My registration says "payment under verification". What happens now?
Nothing more is needed from you. A volunteer from our Finance or Events Committee checks the transfer against our bank account — usually within 1–2 days. You will then receive an email with your event pass and QR code.
If something does not match (for example the amount), we email you the reason with a link to upload a new slip.
I cannot find my event pass. How do I get it again?
Open the event page and submit the registration form again with the same email address. We will not register you twice — we simply email you the link to your registration and pass again.
Tip: on your pass page you can print it, save it as a PDF or download the QR code image.
Can I cancel my registration? What about refunds?
Yes — open your event pass (the link is in your confirmation email) and choose “Can’t come? Cancel my registration”. This frees your place for someone on the waitlist.
If you have already paid, please contact us about a refund. Refunds are decided case by case by the Events and Finance Committees.
How does the lucky draw work?
At events with a lucky draw, every person gets a 4-digit number when they check in at the registration desk — so please come on time. Your numbers appear on your event pass.
- Main draw: adults and students. Each family can win one main prize.
- Kids’ draw: children only, one prize per family.
Winners are announced on stage and listed on the event page. Bring your pass to collect your prize.
Payments & receipts
How do I get a receipt for my payment?
Once your payment is confirmed, our committee emails you an official numbered payment receipt. You can also open and print it at any time from your event pass (button “Payment receipt”).
Which bank account do I pay into?
The bank details are shown in the registration form on each paid event page and on our Donate page. Please use your name (or the name you enter in the form) as the sender so we can match your payment quickly.
New to Daegu
I have just arrived in Daegu. Where do I start?
Welcome! Join our WhatsApp group for quick help from the community, look through our Newcomer resources, and come to the next event to meet people. The Leaving Korea / Giving away board is great for picking up furniture and kitchen items from people who are moving on.
How do I get my residence card (ARC)?
Foreigners staying longer than 90 days must register at the immigration office for their area within 90 days of arrival. Book an appointment on HiKorea. You usually need your passport, a photo, the application form, the fee and documents for your visa type (for students, a certificate from your university).
For help in English and other languages, call the Immigration Contact Center at 1345. Your university’s international office can also guide you. Rules can change — always check HiKorea for the latest requirements.
Do I need health insurance in Korea?
Most foreign residents are enrolled in the National Health Insurance (NHIS) after six months of stay, and students on D-2 visas are usually enrolled from their registration. Premiums depend on your status, and students receive a discount. Employees are normally covered through their employer.
Check your own case with NHIS or your university’s international office.
How do I renew my Indian passport or get other consular services?
Passport, OCI and other consular services are handled by the Embassy of India in Seoul. Check its website for the current forms, fees and appointment process. When the Embassy holds a consular camp in our region, we announce it in our WhatsApp group and on this website.
What are the emergency numbers in Korea?
- 112 — Police
- 119 — Fire and ambulance
- 1345 — Immigration Contact Center (multilingual)
- 1330 — Korea Travel Hotline (24 hours, interpretation help)
For urgent help as an Indian national, see the emergency contact on the Embassy of India website.
Where can I buy Indian groceries?
Ask in our WhatsApp group — members share the latest shops in Daegu and Gyeongsan and the online Indian grocery stores that deliver across Korea. Many families also give away spices and kitchen items on our marketplace when they move.
Membership & volunteering
Who can join Daegu Indians?
Everyone who is part of — or loves — the Indian community in Daegu and Gyeongbuk is welcome: students, researchers, professors, professionals, families and friends of India. The easiest way to stay connected is to join our WhatsApp and Telegram groups (links at the bottom of every page) and come to our events.
How can I volunteer?
Fill in the form on the Get involved page and tell us your skills — event setup, cooking, photography, design, teaching, translation and more. Our Volunteers Committee will contact you. Volunteers receive a certificate of appreciation.
Donations
How can I donate or sponsor?
Transfer to the bank account on our Donate page and then fill in the short form there so we can thank you and record your gift correctly. Businesses interested in sponsoring an event are welcome to contact us.
Will I get an acknowledgement for my donation?
Yes. After our Finance Committee confirms that the transfer has arrived, we email you a thank-you acknowledgement. You can ask for your name to be kept anonymous in the form.
Community boards
How do I edit, close or delete my post?
Use the manage link from the email you received when you posted. There you can edit the post, mark it as given away / full, or delete it. Lost the email? Use “Lost your manage link?” at the bottom of the board to get a new one.
