Coordinators are volunteers, not an emergency service. 1345 and 1330 answer in English and other languages.
Language coordinators
Verified members of our community who volunteered to answer questions from newcomers. Choose your language — you contact them through this website, and they reply by email.
Don’t see your language? Use the form below — the Welfare committee will find someone to help.
Arrival checklist
Apply at the immigration office within 90 days of arrival. Book on the HiKorea website; your university or employer usually helps.
Your address is registered with your ARC. Moving later? Report it within 14 days at the community centre or online.
A prepaid SIM works with your passport; a contract plan usually needs the ARC.
Open one near your campus or office — take your passport, ARC (or receipt) and proof of school or work.
Foreign residents join the National Health Insurance after 6 months (students from arrival in many cases). Ask your office about the rules.
Get a T-money / transit card at any convenience store — it works on Daegu buses and metro.
Papago (translation), Naver Map or KakaoMap (directions), KakaoTalk (messages), Coupang (shopping).
Come to our events, and register with the community to post on the ride-share and giving-away boards.
Rules change — always check with the immigration office (call 1345) or your university’s international office. This page is friendly guidance, not legal advice.
Ask for help
Tell us what you need. Your message goes to the coordinators of your language. They reply to you by email.
- Coordinators are volunteers. They never ask for money, passwords or your passport.
- Your email and phone are shared only with the coordinator who helps you, and the Welfare committee.
- If something feels wrong, raise a concern.
