President’s Message

Daegu Indians Association

One India • One Community • One Family

Dear Members of the Indian Community,

It gives me immense pleasure and honour to serve as the President of the Daegu Indians Association (DIA).

Daegu Indians Association was established with a simple yet meaningful vision: to bring Indians living in Daegu and the surrounding regions together as one united, supportive, and inclusive community. Although we come from different states, speak different languages, follow different traditions, and practise different religions, we share one identity that connects us all 'being Indian'.

Living away from our homeland brings unique opportunities as well as challenges. Whether it is adjusting to a new environment, finding accommodation, understanding local systems, accessing healthcare, seeking educational or employment opportunities, or celebrating our cultural traditions, having a supportive community makes a significant difference. Daegu Indians Association (DIA) aims to be a platform where every Indian feels welcomed, respected, supported, and connected.

Our Vision: Unity Beyond Differences

I strongly believe that our strength lies in our diversity. Our association must rise above regional, linguistic, religious, cultural, and organisational differences. Every individual deserves equal respect, equal opportunity, and a meaningful voice in our community.

Our guiding principles are:

  1. Unity in Diversity: Bringing Indians from every state, region, language, and background together.
  2. Equality and Inclusion: Ensuring that everyone has an opportunity to participate, contribute, and be heard.
  3. Community Service: Supporting students, professionals, families, senior citizens, newcomers, and individuals in need.
  4. Transparency and Accountability: Maintaining responsible governance, open communication, and proper financial accountability.
  5. Cultural Heritage: Celebrating India's rich cultural traditions while respecting the diversity within our community.
  6. Volunteerism: Encouraging individuals to contribute their time, knowledge, skills, and resources for the benefit of others.

Start in Daegu, Grow Across Korea, Connect Indians Worldwide

Our journey begins in Daegu, but our vision is not limited to geographical boundaries. We aim to gradually expand our network across neighbouring regions and, over time, connect with Indian communities throughout the Republic of (South) Korea.

We believe sustainable growth comes from building a strong foundation, developing responsible leadership, encouraging local participation, and establishing meaningful collaborations with universities, government institutions, businesses, the Embassy of India, and other community organisations.

We also welcome opportunities to collaborate with organisations that share our commitment to community welfare, cultural exchange, education, and social development.

A Community That Cares

Daegu Indians Association (DIA) is not just an organisation for celebrating festivals and conducting cultural events. It is a community support platform.

We aspire to strengthen our services in areas such as:

  1. Assistance and guidance for newly arrived Indians.
  2. Information on accommodation, education, employment, and essential services.
  3. Community welfare and emergency support.
  4. Cultural, educational, and networking activities.
  5. Support and inclusive activities for children and families, including children with special needs.
  6. Guidance and connections for students, researchers, professionals, and entrepreneurs.

Our objective is to ensure that no Indian in our community feels isolated or left behind.

Our Commitment to the Future

An association is not defined by an individual, a position, or a leadership team. It is defined by the trust of its members, the commitment of its volunteers, the participation of its community, and the positive impact it creates.

Leadership is a responsibility, not a privilege. Positions are temporary, but the values and institutions we build should continue for generations.

I sincerely appreciate every volunteer, executive member, student, family, sponsor, supporter, and well-wisher who has contributed to the development of Daegu Indians Association. Every contribution, regardless of its size, helps strengthen our community.

I invite all Indians living in Daegu and neighbouring regions to join hands with us. Let us respect one another, support one another, celebrate our diversity, and work together towards a stronger and more connected Indian community.

Let us build an association where everyone belongs, every voice matters, every contribution is valued, and no one is left behind.

With warm regards,

Dr. Minnam Reddy Vasudeva Reddy
